The Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and ZGR Corporation have strengthened their collaboration with the signing of a framework agreement for the creation of the “ZGR Power Electronics Chair”, with the aim of promoting research, training and technological development in this discipline.
The Power electronics is a key technology for the advancement and future of electrical energy, as it is a discipline that focuses on converting, controlling and optimising energy in the most efficient way. Its reaches from systems for the uninterruptible supply of quality electrical energy to electrical machines and electronic devices, the deployment of Smart Grids, the use of renewable energy sources or the supply of energy to electric vehicles. Power electronics plays a key role in the advancement of more efficient, sustainable, and competitive energies.
In line with its extensive field of applications, the “ZGR Power Electronics Chair” will promote the development of research projects in the field of energy innovation, both in its application to the development of modular solutions for efficient power supply of industrial electrical equipment, the improvement of the productivity and efficiency inverters in photovoltaic solar plants, the development of new integral solutions for the repowering of electrolytic stations and ultra-fast smart chargers, the development of efficient power supply of electrolysers for the promotion of renewable hydrogen or the advances made in the field of renewable energy, the development of new integral solutions for the repowering of electrolytic stations and ultra-fast smart chargers, the development of efficient power supply of electrolysers for the promotion of renewable hydrogen or advances in energy storage and chargers – voltage – stablisers for electrical transmission infrastructures and energy distribution.
The agreement was signed by the Rector of the University, José E. Capilla, and the CEO of ZGR, Íñigo Segura. Martín Riera Guasp also took part in the ceremony as Director of the ZGR-UPV Chair. Antonio Poveda, Director of Technology and Innovation, CTIO of ZGR, also attended on behalf of ZGR.
ZGR CHAIR: BOOSTING ACADEMIC PROJECTS, WORK SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS
Through the Chair, various initiatives will be carried out, such as collaborations in teaching activities, collaboration grants, awards for academic projects related to the subject, internships in companies, dissemination conferences and professional meetings, etc.
For Íñigo Segura, CEO of ZGR Corporación, “this Chair will allow ZGR to maintain its technological leadership by optimally meeting the needs of our customers in industry, power generation, transmission and distribution networks and mobility, bringing the University’s research staff closer to the business world and working together to promote innovation in electrical energy conversion and management systems. For ZGR, as a technology company that works closely with the University, this is an important step towards intensifying this collaboration with a national and international benchmark such as the UPV”.
ZGR CHAIR: PROFESSIONAL PROJECTION OF UPV GRADUATES
The Rector of the University, José E. Capilla, highlighted “the value of the chair as an instrument for the professional projection of UPV graduates, as well as the firm commitment of the rectorial team to the Business Chairs programme, which in just two years has gone up to one hundred. The creation of the “ZGR Power Electronics Chair” consolidates years of relationship between ZGR and the UPV, opening new lines of collaboration linked to technological development and innovation as differential elements in its value proposition”.
For his part, the Director of the Chair, Martín Riera, emphasised how the Chair will facilitate the incorporation of young, highly qualified talent into ZGR Corporation as interns, while enriching the range of activities and lines of research in various fields of technological knowledge for students and teachers.
