Business people and directors of companies such as Iberdrola, Isemaren, SmartEnergy, Enzen, Ohla, X-Elio, Generaciones Fotovoltaicas, Exus Renewables, Hithium Energy Storage, FRV, WDEnergía, Dismuntel, Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure, among others, together reflected on this moment of opportunity that the sector is experiencing, its challenges and goals, and the importance that experienced manufacturers such as ZGR Corporación develop high-power hybrid systems with their own technology.
Faced with the challenge of Asian competition, it is clear that in Spain and Europe we have the talent, companies, infrastructures, technology, innovation and sufficient experience to be able to compete in a globalised market.
“We devote more than 10% of our manufacturing to investments in innovation, for which we have a specific centre in Valencia where more than 40% of the workforce works. More than 45 full-time engineers with broad experience and knowledge in power electronics”, said Íñigo Segura, CEO of ZGR, during the talk with Luis Marquina.
For his part, ZGR’s Innovation Director, Antonio Poveda, explained the differential elements of the unit and how the cooling challenge had been resolved by means of an innovative industrial air ventilation system.
At ZGR, we consider that the challenge of temperature will increase. The trend of the Utilities market is to want increasingly more power in less space, which means significant management of cooling systems.
“We wanted the highest reliability, the most simplicity and a robust Central Inverter, to achieve the highest productivity”, said Poveda, who added: “The modules can work independently. It is a central unit but with a String concept. In this way, the Central Inverter does not stop in the case of an incident in one module and if it has to be repaired, it can be done very easily and quickly, at the same time as the other power modules continue working”.

The ZGR Corporación’s commitment to hybrid energy systems
The hybrid systems that combine different energy and storage sources offer stability, efficiency and cost reduction, and are emerging as the major future trend, as they are integrated, sustainable and cost-effective solution, which balances energy supply and demand, improves the quality of supply and increases energy self-sufficiency.
At ZGR, Íñigo Segura went on, “now we are starting to think about producing 2000 V units”, and added: “We are continuously thinking about creating new things, of identifying new components. We need suppliers that are involved in our innovation chain and provide us with new solutions, and customers who challenge us to excel. There are components that are critical that we have to work on and develop together. We continuously support alliances and cooperation”.
Seven reasons for having a Central Inverter and PCS 1500 V from the ZGR Corporación
Formulated with a modular design, the new high-power Central Inverter and PCS have a whole series of differential elements, that stand out above other solutions on the market. Its main advantages are:
- Power modules that act as independent inverters.
- Quick repair, with changes of the power modules in less than 15 minutes, without the need to stop production.
- Advance system for safe disconnection.
- Very innovative cooling system by two phase ventilation.
- Maximum performance: Maximum productivity (without derating) up to 50°C and production up to 60°C.
- Inverter/charger hybrid compatibility.
- Remote real-time monitoring.
These units are certified for the EU and powers of 3300 kW, but the 4500 MW range is already being developed and is also moving forward in its homologation and certification for the USA and LATAM market, where it will be marketed at the beginning of 2025. At this time, there is already a portfolio of orders and the first units are starting to be distributed.
Due to the great reception of the Central Inverter and assessment at the event, ZGR Corporación is now working on the first business meetings for the last quarter of the year.
