ZIGOR Corporación has been awarded as the main supplier to Unión Fenosa Distribución (UFD) for 2023 with intelligent direct current chargers with thyristor technology.
- This award is in addition to the one obtained by Iberdrola in January, in which ZGR was awarded the supply of 50% of DC systems required for the operation of its substations for the next three years.
- ZGR becomes a key strategic supplier for the electricity sector, as it is the main supplier of thyristor technology chargers for Spanish electricity companies.
- ZGR is able to respond in terms of price, delivery times and state-of-the-art technical functionalities (including smart grids) to the large Spanish electric utilities.
May 31, 2022, Vitoria, Madrid, Valencia– ZIGOR Corporación, a business group which specialises in the development of robust, reliable and highly productive solutions for the integrated management of electrical energy, has been awarded the main contract to supply Unión Fenosa Distribución with DC power supply systems for its substations. The 125V systems for the supply of auxiliary services and the 48V systems for the supply of communications and telecontrol.
This one year contract places ZGR at the forefront of the solutions in transmission and distribution of electrical energy and, consequently, a key agent for the promotion of the energy transition and improvement of the quality of the electrical grid.
This contract awarded by Unión Fenosa Distribución (UFD) is in addition to the one, won earlier this year by Iberdrola, which involved the supply of 50% of the intelligent DC chargers required for the operation of Iberdrola’s substations for the next three years.
ZGR, key strategic supplier for the electricity sector
This places ZGR as a key strategic supplier for the electricity sector, being the main supplier of thyristor technology chargers (intelligent chargers/rectifiers known as “MIT”), able to respond in price, delivery time and state-of-the-art technical functionalities to the Spanish electricity companies.
ZGR’s rectifiers/chargers are necessary and critical components in electrical substations since, thanks to their battery energy storage system, they guarantee their operation, even in the event of a breakdown or system failure. In other words, they are fundamental elements to avoid voltage drops and guarantee a quality and safe electricity supply.
ZGR’s rectifier/chargers have been developed specifically to drive the transition to distributed energy smart microgrids. This thyristor technology from ZGR enables electric distribution and trading companies to take steps in complying with the regulations set by the EU regarding the advancement of smart grids in the European Union.
“The robustness, reliability and maximum productivity that distinguish ZGR CORPORACIÓN’s equipment have been critical elements in the technical specification scores established by both distributors, Unión Fenosa Distribución and Iberdrola, and mark the difference and leadership of ZGR within the national electricity industry,” says the company’s CEO, Íñigo Segura.
