SMART MIT FROM ZGR IBERDROLA
ZGR will supply Iberdrola with 50% of the smart DC chargers that its electrical infrastructures require.
The awarded contract covers three years of supply. And it makes ZGR Iberdrola’s main supplier for this type of equipment.
ZGR has been working with Iberdrola for 22 years in the supply of this type of equipment, as well as others. Also on the development of products aligned to the new requirements of the distribution grid.
ZGR’s new smart DC charger-rectifiers (Smart MIT) have been approved by Iberdrola. These components are necessary in electricity substations to guarantee their operation even in cases of fault or failure of the system. They have been specifically developed to drive the transition towards smart distribution grids.
This contract positions ZGR as a benchmark in innovative solutions in smart chargers and, at the same time, that are more competitive in price and technical functionalities. In the tender, robustness, reliability and maximum productivity were critical elements in the scoring of the established specifications.
ZGR was already a benchmark in the sector for the robustness and reliability of its low-voltage TPS charger-rectifiers. With this contract, another step has been taken as a key player in driving the energy transition in Spain through the incorporation of distributed energy smart microgrids.
11 January 2022, Vitoria, Madrid, Valencia.- ZGR is a corporate group that specialises in robust, reliable and productive solutions for the integrated management of electrical energy. The group has been approved by Iberdrola to supply 50% of the smart charger-rectifiers for medium-voltage electrical infrastructures.
The awarded contract is for three years and positions ZGR at the forefront of electrical energy Transmission and Distribution solutions. Furthermore, it makes it a key player in driving the energy transition in Spain through the incorporation of distributed energy smart microgrids.
THE NEW SMART MITs
The new Smart MITs from ZGR are necessary components in electricity substations to guarantee their operation even in cases of fault or failure of the system.
The development of the Smart MITs from ZGR has been carried out in recent years in cooperation with the Iberdrola knowledge hub. This hub is a leader in the development of smart grids in Spain. The prototypes have been tested with Iberdrola, through different stress and technical tests that accredit their high-performance.
“We have been cooperating with Iberdorla for 22 years” said the ZGR CEO Íñigo Segura. “We are united by the same culture of innovation applied to the development of solutions that are capable of driving the energy transition. We are convinced that the future will be increasingly electric”.
“Winning this contract positions ZGR as a benchmark in innovative solutions in smart chargers and, at the same time, that are more competitive in price and technical functionalities. The robustness, reliability and maximum productivity were critical elements in the scoring of the established technical specifications”, said José Antonio Grande, director of Transmission and Distribution business development at ZGR.
OTHER ITEMS IN THE CONTRACT
Furthermore, the awarded contract also included other smaller supply items in other conventional DC charger-rectifier models.
ZGR was already a benchmark in the sector for the robustness and reliability of its TPS charger-rectifiers. With this new development it also became a top-level benchmark in integrated solutions for energy transmission and distribution.
“At ZGR, we have a very powerful design capacity based on modularity, with our own engineering and manufacture. We work to the highest quality standards and we are differentiated by a customised technical service”, said Íñigo Segura. He also added: “We are constantly exploring new solutions that resolve the need to improve the efficiency and robustness of energy systems and grids”.
