NOVOFISH BIOTECHNOLOGY RECIRCULATING AQUACULTURE PLANT
Process description
Located on the Huelmo coast – Puerto Montt, in Chile. The NOVOFISH S.A. Biotechnological Recirculating Aquaculture plant is a salmonid cultivation company offering alevin and smolt rearing services with the highest standards in biotechnological recirculation, which requires sanitary barriers using UV and ozone sanitation, automation in temperature control, feeding and salinity among others.
The Problem
The NovoFish aquaculture plant suffers large voltage imbalances from the medium voltage line, which causes malfunctioning in its control system and operation of the water pump motors.
The problems in the control system involve the oxygenation system, aeration system, fish feeding and regulation of water temperature. With respect to the motor problems, the biggest problem relates to the water pumps.
These phenomena cause disturbances that affect the production processes creating process stoppages, with the consequent economic implications involved for the companies.
The Solution
On 20 July 2010, a 300 KVA SET DVR device was installed and put into service in the NovoFish plant, the purpose of which is to mitigate and eliminate the effect of the electrical disturbances on the critical processes of the industry. In this specific case, it corrected the imbalance from the electricity grid, generated its own voltage and delivered it to the plant, as well as covering the voltage dips less than 50%.
Description of the installed system
300 kW – 3×400 Vac SET DVR
