ZGR TECHNOLOGY ENSURES CONTINUITY IN THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY OF ABBOTT’S CRITICAL PROCESSES
One of ZGR’s most important product lines is that of grid quality systems (power conditioning). Among its purposes is that of mitigating and eliminating the electrical disturbances during all types of industrial processes, thus extending the life of manufacturing systems. Abbott’s is one success story relating to these types of systems.
Abbott Laboratorios is a pharmaceutical company that is devoted to healthcare, by improving the life of people thanks to the development of products that cover all aspects of healthcare. Also, it creates nutritional products, diagnostic tools, devices for diabetes and ocular and vascular products based on scientific research. In Spain, it has five centres distributed between Madrid, Barcelona and Granada.
ELIMINATION OF ELECTRICAL DISTURBANCES
The company was suffering from voltage dip problems in the electricity supply that affected its production lines. To resolve them, ZGR installed AVC DVR systems in two of Abbott’s production lines. These systems are designed to mitigate and eliminate the effect of electrical disturbances on critical industrial processes, by eliminating voltage dips, between 30 and 70%, in a symmetrical way in the three phases without any type of battery. For this, regulation is immediate. The DVR continuously monitors the grid.
In a second phase, customer needs change, it is the microcuts, with zero crossings, that affect production. ZGR solve this new problem with a DVC SEPEC system. These are high-performance systems that include batteries and that eliminate:
voltage and frequency variations.
voltage dips
brief interruptions in order to protect critical industrial applications.
Its main function is to ensure the continuity of energy supply in industrial processes where robustness is vital. ZGR has developed this project jointly with the installer Eigra Fuelec.
